Yesterday I went to Cape May in search of the American Oystercatchers and their babies. While looking for them I came across a Piping Plover and her three babies! I was very excited to see that she still had three since Piping Plovers have such a hard time with predators getting the babies. US Fish & Wildlife does a great job putting up protective fences around the nests to keep predators out, but once those babies hatch and start running around, mom has her work cut out for her keeping them safe. Whenever she gives the warning call, the kids come running and get under her.

I haven’t been doing much photography lately but I think I’m finally getting back in the mood. These are some pictures from the past two weeks…
I went to Brandywine Creek State Park yesterday to see if the chats were back yet. I didn’t find any chats but found some Prairie Warblers. You can hear them calling all around the entrance.

This is the same warbler. I wish he had turned and looked at me but I like the way his tail feathers are spread here.

I was happy to see that the American Kestrels are nesting in the tree at the park again. This is from Thursday night. I’m assuming the eggs have hatched since she took this vole into the nest hole.

A Blue Grosbeak from Bombay Hook last weekend. These guys are all over the place!

This Peregrine Falcon was in New Jersey near Brigantine last weekend.

This Canada Goose and her three goslings were at White Clay Creek State Park on Mother’s Day.
